Visit Mahakal Pooja Festival in Chilapata Forest
The Mahakal Puja in Chilapata Forest, nestled in the picturesque region of Dooars, is an auspicious and spiritually significant event held on the 15th of September, marking the ceremonial opening of the forest. This sacred ritual is deeply rooted in local traditions and beliefs, honoring Lord Shiva, the deity revered as Mahakal, the ultimate destroyer of evil and protector of the universe.
As the sun begins its ascent over the lush green canopy of the Chilapata Forest, the air becomes charged with devotion and mysticism. The forest reverberates with the chanting of Vedic hymns, mantras, and the rhythmic beats of traditional drums, setting the ambiance for the ceremonial proceedings.
The rituals commence with priests adorned in vibrant attire conducting elaborate ceremonies at a specially constructed altar amidst the verdant wilderness. Offerings of flowers, fruits, incense, and sacred herbs are made to invoke the divine presence of Lord Shiva, seeking his blessings for the well-being and protection of the forest, its flora, and fauna. Devotee and local communities gather around the sacred site, clad in colorful traditional attire, adding to the vibrancy and fervor of the occasion
